Branding, privacy, and your studio page

Your studio name, logo, accent color, gallery cover, and header style create the client-facing brand. Gallery privacy and studio-page visibility are separate controls.

Studio branding

In Galleries Settings, add the studio name, accent color, description, and web addresses. For a connected studio, manage the light and dark logos in ShootCal Settings; Galleries links you there. Choose a frosted, subtle, bold, or text-only title card and a full-screen, tall, standard, or compact gallery header. These display choices apply across the studio; individual galleries keep their own title, subtitle, cover, and shoot date.

Studio page header image

The studio page can carry a wide header image. Upload one in Galleries Settings and adjust the horizontal and vertical focus so the crop keeps the right part of the photo on phones and desktops.

Logo over the header

Your logo sits large and centered over the header image. Choose Automatic to show the dark-background logo when you have one (the header darkens the photo, so it usually reads best), or force the Light-background logo or Dark-background logo.

  • Unlisted: not listed on the public studio page; anyone with its hard-to-guess link can open it.
  • Public: eligible to appear on the studio page and be shared publicly.
  • Password protected: viewers must enter the gallery password; available on paid plans.

Download PINs are different from gallery passwords. A PIN protects the whole-gallery download while still letting people view the gallery. PINs are available on the Free plan.

Studio page visibility

The studio page is the portfolio that lists only galleries you deliberately make public. It can be public and indexable, hidden from search while remaining reachable by its link, or password protected on a paid plan. Changing the studio page never makes an unlisted or password-protected gallery public.

The studio page is separate from the optional five-page photography website. To build Home, Weddings, Engagements, Families, and Contact pages from your existing galleries, see Build your photography website.

If your website is published, the studio page appears inside the website's header and footer, and the site menu links to it as Recent work (you can hide that link in the website builder). Without a published website, the studio page keeps its standalone look.

Watermarks and originals

Preview watermarking overlays your studio logo on generated viewing images. The stored original and client downloads remain unwatermarked. This makes watermarking useful for proofing without damaging delivered files.

Watermarks need a studio logo. Add one in ShootCal Settings first, or use the logo control shown in Galleries Settings if your studio is not connected to the ShootCal app.

  1. Open the gallery and expand Settings.
  2. Turn on Watermark on-screen photos.
  3. Save.

The change applies to the viewing images the gallery generates. Downloads are never watermarked.

In Settings, under Gallery defaults, tick Watermark on-screen photos by default. New galleries inherit the choice. Existing galleries keep whatever they are set to, so change those individually.

Password protection is a paid-plan feature and is separate from a download PIN.

  1. Open the gallery and expand Settings.
  2. Enter a Gallery password and save.
  3. From then on, anyone with the link must also enter the password; share it separately.

To remove password protection, clear the field and save.

Use a Download PIN instead when you want people to browse freely but want the whole-gallery download protected. PINs are available on the Free plan and take 4 to 8 digits.
